This painting is made using the traditional Flemish method of under painting and glazing. I chose this technique because it conveys the message of light and powerful energy that is contained in the image. As the dancers reach for the light, their bodies become defined by the light itself, they exist where the light exists. The ellipses on the ground are a perfect geometrical match to the bells generating the light.
